I can think of a few reasons why it’s not so bad:
1) Fresh Air (sort of)
2) Exercise
3) No boss looming over you
4) Easy commute
5) Lunch is probably “on the house”
6) Who could ever get angry at the Brat Man?
7) Taking work home with you could be yummy…

I disagree. The walking brat man, to me, is the culinary equal to the one-man-band.
No one admires the one-man-band.

I think to analogy is slightly flawed (although I can’t argue with your qualitative assessment of one man bands).

First, I don’t think that there is a strong correlation between the quality of the brat and the number of brat-related employees.

Second, is there a HUGE delta between the quality of a street brat (one man band) and one served in a fine eating establishment (symphony orchestra)? I submit there is not…as long as the brat stands alone and not as an ensemble (e.g. kraut, potatoes, dirndl-clad waitresses)

Finally, I admire any food provider that will bring the cooked, dead animal to me…or at least close the distance between us. This doesn’t really refute your assertion…but I kind of ran out of steam thinking about dirndl-clad waitresses.

He may be serving a need that he saw as needing to be filled.

Saugages. Serving a need. Needing to be Filled.
